Surgical Tool Sterilization
Quick Overview:
The goal of this project was to create a compartment that can be picked up and dropped into an Autoclave by an automated arm. This is an alternative to the traditional way of sterilizing surgical equipment. The constraints given were that the designed compartment had to fit in the given footprint and be able to fit and secure the given tool which is a tweezer.
Minimum of 4 mm thickness for everything
Max 2 hour print in total (including support)
This project was done to create an alternative design for surgical tool sterilization that is autonomous. During this project, I was in charge of creating the container that hold the tool. By having the dimensions and constraints of the tool and the robotic gripper I was able to create a functional design that passed all the tests and had the least amount of material and it took the least amount of time when compared to all other designs submitted. the time constraint was 2 hours and my design took 57 min to complete which included all the support pieces. without the supports, the printing time was 32 minuits

Assembely of all components:

Printing G-code:

Without any supports, the print time would be 50 minutes

Without any supports, the print time would be 50 minutes
Both of the printing times regardless of whether it's with or without support are significantly lower than the given time of 2 hours. Based on the comments of the interviewer, this design was the most efficient and simplest yet most effective based on the tests run by them.
